Thursday 20th February was an energized day as we dived into the vibrant world of health, sustainability, and sports facilitated by a team from the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK). The Cheza Healthy Initiative was unpacked to us, highlighting the importance of physical activity in our daily lives. We were also introduced to the LEA Initiative, an inspiring project focused on environmental sustainability—reminding us that caring for our planet is as crucial as staying fit!
The highlight of the first session was a talk by Olympic beach handball player Viona Wandera, who shared her incredible journey in athletics which was very inspiring. She pointed out that sports have not only shaped her life but also served as a powerful tool for personal growth and community engagement, highlighting her dedication and triumph.
As the day heated up, our adrenaline pumped with thrilling outdoor activities such as the wacky Piggyback Race, the fast-paced 100m Relays, and the classic Tug of War, all done in our different houses! The energy was electric as teams rallied, cheered, and sprinted to victory. In an epic display of teamwork and enthusiasm, Elgon house emerged as champions, winning the day and our hearts!
The team spirit on display was undoubtedly the highlight of this action-packed event. Everyone worked together, showcasing the ATL skill of collaboration in action! We saw how teamwork can lead to success and create lasting memories.
The day was a perfect blend of inspiration, action, and camaraderie, leaving everyone energized and motivated. From the insightful sessions on health and sustainability to the exhilarating sports activities, the event not only highlighted the importance of physical fitness and environmental care but also celebrated the spirit of teamwork and determination. As we reflected on the day’s achievements, it was clear that such initiatives not only bring us closer as a community but also remind us of the values that drive personal and collective success. Here’s to many more days of learning, growing, and winning together!
