Where is the school located?

The school is located in Kiambu County, along the Thika – Mang’u Road, 6 kilometres off the Thika Superhighway.

Why build a school instead of investing in already existing schools?

The M-PESA Foundation has made significant investments in existing educational institutions. The Academy is in keeping with our continued commitment to transforming lives in Kenya.

How is your school different?

We invest in continuous research to ensure that we cover the academic concepts required in exciting and innovative ways. It is learner-centred, incorporating the use of ICT to deliver the curriculum. We also focus on entrepreneurship and leadership giving students time to learn outside the classroom, explore the arts and take part in sports. The school is an IB World School with an average class size of 24 students per class, from MYP4, MYP5, CP1 and DP1, and CP2 and DP2. The International Baccalaureate curriculum is 100% student-centred learning approach. This curriculum ignites passion in our 21st-century learners whereby they are equipped with problem-solving skills and are encouraged to find practical solutions to global problems/issues. The end results are learners who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process and are life-long learners by nature. The UONGOZI Centre offers a contemporary programme that supports and mentors our graduate students prior to their transition to tertiary institutions by enhancing their leadership potential.

How is admissions information availed?

Admissions information and application materials are available online, in all Safaricom shops countrywide and with our partner organizations such as (NIC Bank, UNHCR, and Safarilink

How is the school run and governed?

The Academy is run by an Executive Head of School who reports to the Foundation’s Trustees. The school also has a Director of Studies, Director of Operations, Director Uongozi Centre. In addition to this, there is a strong team of professional staff who oversee the running of the Academy in varied capacities.

Will any fees be levied?

The Academy is fully funded by the M-PESA Foundation, and whilst fees are not payable parents are required to pay for the cost of student travel to and from the Academy.

What extra curricula activities does your school offer?

Performing arts, Sports, Community service, Leadership and entrepreneurship, Clubs and societies among others.
