The IB CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) program is more than just a requirement; it’s a transformative experience that encourages personal growth, community engagement, and life skills development. The  M25 class has explored their passions and learned the importance of positively impacting the world around us. Our final project at Wabeni Vocational Training Centre is a testament to this journey.

Throughout the year, we dedicated ourselves to giving back to the school through various small yet meaningful activities. We helped out on the farm, cleaned pavements, and assisted in the dining hall by serving and tidying up. We also participated in various sports, with most students gravitating towards football and basketball, often overlooking sports like rugby. A hotly contested favorite was swimming, followed by baking in the kitchen, where we could savor our delicious creations afterward. The gym was another popular spot, as many boys aimed to boost their alpha strength by lifting weights for only 30 minutes, while most girls focused on toning up.

We also embraced opportunities to engage in CAS at home, with some of us volunteering at hospitals, teaching Sunday school, and creating awareness initiatives, all to give back to the community. While balancing academic commitments with CAS activities posed its challenges, we approached them with resilience and creativity. Time management became our best friend, and through teamwork, we supported one another in navigating the busy schedules that defined our CAS journey.

Our final project became a shining symbol of our hard work and teamwork as we wrapped up our CAS adventures. We planted trees, cleaned up areas, cleared bushes, beautified paths, created signage, and forged friendships with the amazing students at Wabeni. Each task highlighted our strengths and showcased the power of collaboration. We faced challenges along the way; some doubted the need for our efforts, and we had financial constraints. But by staying positive and appreciating the little wins, we adapted and thrived. The impact of our projects rippled through the community, fostering unity and responsibility.

Reflecting on our CAS journey, we appreciate that we have gained valuable skills, self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of global issues. From planning to execution, we grew together, learning the importance of empathy and resilience. The lessons from our CAS experiences will guide us in future endeavors. To those starting their own CAS journeys, dive in, embrace every moment, and don’t hesitate to step out of your comfort zone.

Ultimately, our IB CAS journey has been a remarkable chapter filled with growth and impact. We’re grateful for the support from our teachers and community, and we’re excited to carry these lessons and memories forward as we make our mark on the world.
