Being named Mr and Ms MFA was never just about holding a title. For both of us, it represented trust, responsibility, and the opportunity to serve our school community with purpose.

For me as Ms MFA, the role symbolised the chance to embody school spirit and keep our community steady and united. I wish I could say I felt instantly happy or excited when I was announced, but that wouldn’t be honest; I was unsure where to begin or what was expected of me. Yet, standing under the bright lights, surrounded by cheers and supportive smiles, I found reassurance. Those moments gave me the strength to stand tall, embrace the responsibility, and enjoy the journey.

Throughout my tenure, I was guided by values of respect, teamwork, and the belief that leadership is rooted in service rather than authority. I learned that sometimes, a friendly smile and truly listening to someone’s challenge already solves half the problem.

For me as Mr MFA (Zuwena), the role was a call to build confidence, self-discovery, and genuine brotherhood among my peers. It represented deep trust placed in me by fellow students and a clear mission: to create a culture where boys could support one another openly and positively. Through a shared “bro code,” we sought to redefine strength and masculinity, rallying together with our chant: “For the manhood, awoo, awoo, awoo!”

Publicly, we represented the student body during school events, supported activities, and worked to maintain a positive school environment. Behind the scenes, our leadership was deeply rooted in welfare and student voice.

As Ms MFA, I worked closely with the welfare department, collaborated with the student council, and ensured that issues raised—especially those affecting girls’ livelihoods—were heard. Planning pastoral topics and leading meetings helped boost confidence not only among the girls but also within myself. These experiences prepared me to later take on a leadership role within the student council, where I assumed responsibility for the welfare department.

As Mr MFA, my leadership focused on creating structured spaces for dialogue. With the support of a fellow student and a mentor, I led the annual “Man Up, Speak Out” pastoral series. This involved coordinating discussions, securing guest speakers, and reaching students across all year groups. These sessions challenged stereotypes, encouraged vulnerability, and promoted healthy communication, all in pursuit of building self-esteem and self-awareness among the boys.

Leadership came with its challenges. Balancing expectations, managing time, navigating conflict, and overcoming hesitation—especially around vulnerability—were not easy. We learned to face these challenges through patience, open communication, and by seeking support when needed.

One of the most important lessons we learned is that leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about learning, adapting, leading by example, and prioritising the well-being of others. We grew in confidence, strengthened our communication skills, and learned how to remain calm under pressure. We discovered the power of teamwork, resilience, and responsibility carried with maturity. More importantly, we gained a deeper understanding of ourselves and the leaders we are becoming—leaders who listen, create safe spaces, and serve with intention.

For me as Mr MFA, nothing compares to the energy and unity felt when the boys came together in our signature chant. For me as Mrs MFA, the moments of joy and trust reminded me that leadership is not only about duty, but about connection and shared experience.

Our Final Message

To the incoming Mr and Ms MFA: Lead with humility and courage. Remember that you represent more than a title—you represent the spirit of our school.

To the student body: Stay united, stay engaged, and continue supporting one another. You are the heart of this community.

To future leaders: Leadership begins with service. Stay true to your values, be willing to learn, and never underestimate the power of kindness or a small action.

As we close this chapter, we do so with gratitude. This journey taught us that true leadership is about lifting others, building connection, and serving with heart.

For the manhood, awoo, awoo, awoo! 💪✊️
