At the academy, we celebrate young innovators who are shaping the future through creativity, resilience, and impact. One such example is Fredrick Njoroge Kariuki, a passionate tech innovator and social-impact leader whose vision is to transform education in Kenya and across Africa.

Fredrick is the Co-Founder, CEO, and Chief Technology Officer of SomaVilivyo, an AI-powered learning platform designed to deliver personalised, affordable resources to under-resourced schools. His work focuses on bridging gaps in access, empowering teachers with better tools, and ensuring that every student has a chance to thrive in today’s fast-changing world.

Beyond SomaVilivyo, Fredrick has also co-founded Exam Study Hall and leads the Ufanisi Initiative, both of which combine technology with peer-driven learning to support students. His journey has earned him international recognition as a HundrED Youth Ambassador, a two-time AwardX finalist for Social Impact and East Africa, and winner of the Young Scientists Kenya Science for Development Award. He was also selected for the prestigious Harvard Computer Society AI Bootcamp, where he sharpened his skills in global technology leadership.

About SomaVilivyo

SomaVilivyo: AI-Powered, CBE-Aligned Learning for Every Kenyan Student.

Fredrick founded SomaVilivyo to address the real challenges that millions of African learners face, including limited access to quality resources, one-size-fits-all teaching, a lack of exposure to 21st-century skills, and minimal support in tracking progress.

Through SomaVilivyo, students can:

  • Access AI-generated courses tailored to their age, level, and goals.
  • Track their learning journey through an adaptive feedback dashboard.
  • Learn on any device, from basic phones via USSD to smartphones through a Progressive Web App.
  • Practice interactively with an AI assistant that supports Q&A, problem-solving, and self-paced study across subjects.

By aligning with Kenya’s Competency-Based Education (CBE), the platform ensures that learning is not only innovative but also relevant and practical.

Fredrick’s story is a reminder that technology is not just about machines, it’s about people. His vision is to make quality education universally accessible, while inspiring young African innovators to dream boldly and create solutions for their communities.

As a school, we are proud to highlight his achievements and celebrate his journey as an example of how dedication, curiosity, and innovation can change the world.
