ONLINE TEACHING AND LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic schools have been closed since March this year. The current estimates of learning loss from COVID-19 present a worrying picture. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the rise of virtual learning, whereby teaching and learning is carried out remotely and on digital platforms.

While most of our learners (Forms 1, 2 and 3) continue to stay at home, we believe that learning must continue despite the fact that the majority of our students come from remote parts of the country with no electricity in their homesteads, limited access to devices such as mobile phones or laptops and poor network connectivity.

Due to the unique nature of our learners, we have had to develop a virtual learning solution that will meet the needs of our learners. This has ensured excellent attendance, engaging and interactive teaching and learning and the continuation of our strong pastoral care to maintain students’ well-being at this challenging time.
